Students in grades 3-8 and grade 10 recently completed the annual Smarter Balanced testing in both mathematics and English language arts. Students in grades 11 and 12 who have not previously achieved the graduation required score (2548 for ELA and 2595 for math), or had not previously taken one or both subject area tests also participated in this spring’s testing.

Individual student scores from Smarter Balanced testing will be viewable at the end of the day (5 pm) June 15th in your Parent Portal under ‘Test Results’ tab. A hard copy of the official student individual score report will be shared with families this fall when available from the state.

For specific information about what your child’s 4-digit Smarter Balance score and achievement level mean at his/her grade level, please visit:  http://testscoreguide.org/wa/

Students in grades 5, 8 and 11 took the Washington Comprehensive Assessment in Science (WCAS).  This is the first year of the WCAS that assesses the Next Generation Science Standards, and results from this spring’s WCAS science testing will be available this fall.

Our schools and district use results from state assessments, in coordination with district and classroom data, to guide instruction and program improvements for our students.  We use multiple pieces of learning data to help clarify ‘strengths’ and ‘areas of growth’ for each student. This is how our teachers and administrators ensure that each student is on track with meeting or exceeding the end of year expectations.
